Knoxville Police  Collision Avoidance Driving Skills For Life ...  In 2006, Knoxville Police Department crash investigations revealed that nearly 20% of crashes that involved a 17-year old driver were determined to be the driver's fault and resulted in either injuries or death. That number increased to 23% when the drivers were 16-years old. These are very sobering statistics regarding young drivers. It's statistics like these that make the Collision Avoidance Training program so valuable to inexperienced teen drivers. Several parents have said that due to the instruction their son or daughter received in the CAT program, their child was able to maintain control of their vehicle which prevented a serious crash. This program works! Local Contact: Officer Craig McNew Email - Cmcnew@cityofknoxville.org Â
